THE COVEN

WHAT HAPPENS AT COVEN?

The Coven is an intimate group ritual experience, framed in BDSM and sex magick.

Each Coven event will be hosted by 3-5 professional Practitioners of The Arts, drawing from Kink, Fetish, BDSM and esoteric practices.

We will hold space for 9-15 ritual Participants, depending on the ritual form of that particular event, as well as a limited number of Witnesses.

Different Rituals and spaces will be held at each event - which will dictate the type of activities and practices involved. Participants will receive the Blessings of the Practitioners, across a spectrum of BDSM / erotic practices. Essentially Participants are bottoms, slaves, submissive roles, and Practioners are the Tops, Mistresses / Masters, Dominants.

Each space held will be strong in intentionality; each Ritual will have it's own intentions on the part of the Practitioners, and in the opening circle Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on or voice their own intentions and purposes for joining the ritual space.

We invoke the erotic energies that we create in Our rituals and focus them through the lens of our intentions; these are the basic principles of Sex Magick.

From a more rationalist perspective, holding an intention at the opening of such a container, and spending time and energy in a liminal space dedicated to creating altered states through natural biological chemicals and psychological play creates an event of meaning within oneself.

In a world which sorely lacks rites of passage to mark change, the beginnings or endings of journeys, we choose here how we imbue our time with Meaning. We choose to hold a devotional space for the erotic, for the transcendental, for the shadowed parts of ourselves.

The end of each event will feature a closing circle, where a time of reflection, aftercare and connection can take place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I wear?

Ranked in order of desirability

- Your finest ritual gear

- BDSM wear

- Smart casual (suits / evening dress)

- Black

Is this a satanic ritual?

No, it’s not. There will be no goat sacrifices, as a general theme we aren’t focused on any particular religion or creed. The Coven members are those who find common ground with their magical / spiritual practice in sex magic, BDSM and other erotic arts.

Do I need to believe in magic to participate?

Not at all. We use BDSM as the container for our practice, and our rituals are co-created with the intentions that you bring - the actions we will perform will lend power to your intentions, but they are your intentions and yours alone. You will get the most out of the experience if you come with an open heart and open mind, and surrender to the experience.

Is this just a play party?

Yes and no. The Coven is composed of sex industry professionals who have a spiritual / magical element to their practice, and you will be engaged in a power dynamic with them during the event. Numbers are kept limited to ensure intimate and quality interactions between Coven members and participants, and the event as ritual will be run with a structure and with a commitment to intentionality.

Do I have to be [insert gender] to attend?

No! The Coven is a non gendered event, excepting any particular events which require a specific set of genitalia or are framed around gender roles in an intentional way.

Are your Coven members [insert gender]?

The Coven membership is open to all genders, our only criteria are that our Coven members must adhere to the highest standards of ethical practice and professional ability and conduct; those who join our Coven are united in practicing their craft in the container of ritual with an element of personal spirituality attached to their practice.

I notice you have AMAB / Masc Coven members, I’ve had bad experiences with male sex workers, how have you selected your members?

All Coven members are vetted and have years of experience as professionals, with a commitment to ethical and professional conduct; and references from peers and clients alike. We have a zero tolerance policy for unethical and unsafe behaviour from our Coven members.

I’m unsure about all of this. Is there a way I can get an idea of how this event runs in person without participating?

Yes! We have a limited allocation of Witness tickets for each event where you can just watch the proceedings. There is a power in witnessing, for participants and Coven members alike, and even though you may feel like a passive observer, the act of observation in itself changes the dynamic of the group.

I am older / chronically ill / disabled, can I still participate?

Yes! We believe in full accessibility for our attendees, and as professionals we take great care in creating a safe space by negotiation and altering our activities to cater to the needs of each individual. If you have any concerns or questions we strongly encourage you to reach out to thecovenau@gmail.com to discuss your needs!

I’m neurodivergent / mentally ill / suffering from CPTSD / PTSD, can I still participate?

Conditionally yes! As per above, we highly encourage clear communication, and our spaces are definitely neurodivergent friendly and trauma aware. Informed consent goes both ways however, and if you believe that an activity or space may trigger you adversely, we do ask that you clearly communicate this, or consider your attendance to the particular event. As always, we strongly encourage you to reach out to thecovenau@gmail.com to let us know beforehand so that we can best advise you. If you require a support person to be present we can make arrangements for this, so please communicate to us beforehand!
